Volunteers Wanted For Adding New Comics

Each week, a small number of GCD volunteers add listings to our database for the new comics released that week in North America. These are just the basic listings, not full indexes. This makes it easier for other volunteers who upload covers and for indexers, as well as for people using my.comics.org.

Each volunteer covers one publisher or a small group of publishers ("D publishers except DC", for example). From public sources such as ComicsList and Diamond Previews online, they add the issues and make note of the prices and a few other details. We are looking for additional volunteers for this weekly task.

Aslan (b. 1930)

1930 May 23 - 2014 February 11
Aslan was a French painter, sculptor and pin-up artist who is best known for his contributions to the French erotic magazine Lui. He attended Les beaux-arts de Bordeaux in 1945 and the following year was admitted to L'école superieur des Beaux-Arts de Paris.
During military service he sculpted a bust of the Maréchal de Lattre de Tassigny, and went on to create wax figures for Madame Tussaud’s in London and the Musée Grévin in Paris. He illustrated children’s books and branched out into advertising, record and book jackets. From 1963 to 1981, he produced pin ups for the French magazine Lui and its US sister title Oui, and some were used on calendars for car manufacturers like Fiat.
His comics works include illustrations for Dargaud and covers for various magazines such as Menelik.

Yuama (ゆあま) is a manga artist and illustrator known for the series Kimi to Tsuzuru Utakata (君と綴るうたかた) and Ikemen Sugidesu Shiki-senpai! (イケメンすぎです紫葵先パイ！/ The Girl I Want is So Handsome!).

トビナトウヤ (b. 1980)

1980 May 23 - 2017 October 16
Touya Tobina (トビナトウヤ) was a manga artist. Works included Jiu Jiu (JIUJIUー獣従ー), Keppeki Shōnen Kanzen Sōbi (潔癖少年完全装備 / Cleanliness Boy Fully Equipped), Sarashi Asobi (さらしあそび), Kaibutsu Bangai no Shinigami (怪物番街の死神) and Roppan!! (ろっぱん!!).

緑川ゆき (b. 1976)

1976 May 23
Yuki Midorikawa (緑川ゆき) is a manga artist who made her debut in the November 1998 issue of LaLa DX magazine. Known for works like Natsume's Book of Friends (夏目友人帳 / Natsume Yūjinchō), Hotarubi no Mori e (蛍火の杜へ), Akaku Saku Koe (あかく咲く声), Atsui Hibi (アツイヒビ) and Hi-iro no Isu (緋色の椅子).

Carlyle Blackwell Jr. (b. 1913)

Actor and photographer, son of silent movie actor Carlyle Blackwell.

Piet de Rycker, born in Brussels in 1957. Studied at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Ghent, published comic strips from the early 1980s. First short film “The Old Storyteller” in 1981, TV series “Quick and Flupke” in 1985/86. Collaboration on numerous animated films, among others by producer Don Bluth, since 1997 collaboration with Thilo Graf Rothkirch (joint direction) and Maya Gräfin Rothkirch (production) on the animated films "Tobias Totz and his Lion" (1999), "The Little Polar Bear" (2001 ), "Laura's Star" (2004) and "The Little Polar Bear 2" (2005).

Ross Richie (b. 1970)

Ross Richie is the chief executive officer (CEO), publisher, and founder of Boom! Studios in 2005.

Richie started with Malibu in the marketing department from 1993 to 1995. He helped the company launch their Ultraverse and Bravura imprints.

In 2004, he assisted Dave Elliott and Garry Leach in re-launching Atomeka Press.
