The internet magazine of stage reviews and opinion

NOTES FROM THE WEBMASTER

MAY-JUNE, 2024

Slight addition to the advisory just below.
To try something a little different, alongside one-off reviews,
I’ll be experimenting with one or two multi-part review series.
And why? Because there seems, these days, to be themes
relating some openings—in musical theatre especially—
trends, things in the Zeitgeist, changes in audience expectation and
the very vocabulary of the form itself, worth exploring in a wider context.

Maintaining the previous asdvisory:
Delays have been due to professional and personal obligations.
The way I’m going to try to stay current is by uploading one or a few reviews at a time,
rather than the bulk uploads of yore, since the architecture of
AISLE SAY’s new design supports it. So please return periodically;
there should be new reviews appearing somewhat regularly.
You’ll know there’s new stuff when the featured picture to the right changes.

Meanwhile—also again—if you’d care to check out my new book,
which, happily, has received rave reviews from the pros and five stars from readers, it’s

THE NOVELIZERS:
An Affectionate History of Media Adaptations and Originals,
Their Astonishing Authors—and the Art of the Craft

And it’s at Amazon at these links, in
casebound color hardcover,
grayscale trade paperback

and budget-priced color ebook
