Given that patients with arthritis usually ingest MgCl2 as a pain killer, our objective was to determine whether MgCl2 displays anti-inflammatory and antinociceptive activity after local and systemic administration in an acute arthritis model, while unraveling a possible mechanism of action.

Aims and scope
Advances in Rheumatology is an international, open access journal publishing pre-clinical, translational and clinical studies on all aspects of paediatric and adult rheumatic diseases, including degenerative, inflammatory and autoimmune conditions. We welcome original research (including systematic reviews and meta-analyses), reviews, guidelines and letters arising from published material.
About the Editors-in-Chief
Professor Marcos Renato de Assis, MD, PhD, Assis Medical School, São Paulo, Brazil
He completed his PhD in Rehabilitation at Federal University of São Paulo, in 2003, studying patients with fibromyalgia. He also has specialization in PM&R and acted as senior teaching assistant for a distance-learning training program on clinical research by Harvard Medical School (2010-2015). His interests are fibromyalgia, rheumatoid arthritis, spondyloarthritis, tools validation and distance learning.
Professor Eduardo dos Santos Paiva, MD, PhD, Federal University of Paraná, Brazil
He is Professor of Rheumatology in the Universidade Federal do Parana, in Curitiba, Brazil. He received his PhD in Internal Medicine from the same University, studying patients with fibromyalgia and obesity. He was a fellow in the Division of Arthritis and Rheumatic Diseases in the Oregon Health and Sciences University. He is a Fellow of the American College of Rheumatology. His areas of interest are fibromyalgia, pain rheumatic diseases, musculoskeletal ultrasound, and multiprofessional care for patients with rheumatic and musculoskeletal diseases.

About the Society
The Brazilian Society of Rheumatology (SBR) was founded in 1949 and its mission is to promote excellence in rheumatology by encouraging teaching, research and care, and contributing to the formulation of public policies aimed at the health and well-being of the rheumatic patients. SBR brings together Brazilian rheumatologists, disseminating the specialty, organizing courses and congresses, and fostering scientific research.
In 2018, the Society approved and published its Code of Ethics whose principles are intended to ensure its mission, vision, and values, according to its statuses and bylaws. Read the full document here.
