Traffic Safety Research (TSR) is an international interdisciplinary peer-reviewed Open Access scientific journal. It was founded in 2021 with the overarching aim to contribute to the global shift towards the Safe System within road transportation.
Traffic Safety Research publishes high-quality research in engineering, psychology, sociology, economics, medicine, political sciences, and other fields relevant for explaining and addressing road traffic casualties. Much emphasis is placed on the practical relevance of the addressed research question as well as the findings.
Accepted manuscripts are published on a rolling basis, meaning they become accessible as soon as the copyediting process is complete. For convenience reasons, the journal contents are organized by annual volumes (and, occasionally, special issues).

According to the latest WHO's global status report on road safety (2023), the vast majority of traffic deaths, 92%, occur in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). While much knowledge on how to prevent traffic fatalities and injuries is available, it often comes from the high-income countries. The general lack of quality research based on the LMIC-context, and particularly performed by the researchers with local knowledge and understanding, is a serious hinder in addressing the global traffic safety challenge.
This special volume aims to contribute to filling in this gap.

The TSR has been accepted for Scopus.
The TSR journal is now included in TRID—the largest publication database devoted to transportation research.
