Sahan Journal grows from startup to journalism powerhouse

In 2019, the Sahan Journal was established as a nonprofit media operation led by veteran journalist Mukhtar M. Ibrahim. The mission was to provide news to communities of color in and around Minneapolis. By October of last year, it had secured $7.4 million from funders and raised another $2 million from advertising and individual donations.
