Tens of thousands of data of the approximately 500 tables, graphs and maps offer an overview of Hungary’s demographic, social and economic processes, its environmental specifics and their timely changes. Unemployment in the 15–74 age group decreased year-on-year, being 3.6% in 2022. We amass this year commercial, private and other accommodation establishments in one unit, a novelty approach of our publication, providing a better picture about tourist traffic. Tourism nights at accommodation establishments were 39 million 821 thousand in 2022.

The approximately 500 tables, graphs and maps and tens of thousands of data the Statistical Yearbook of Hungary contains give, for almost one and a half century, an overview of the social and economic processes of the country in the given year. Besides paying attention to the ever changing socio-economic environment and user demands we always strive to share new information: the health chapter broadened this year with indices regarding outpatient care, time series of healthcare expenses, life expectancy in good health and the number of Covid19 infected people.

The Statistical Yearbook of Hungary, 2011 is to present the socio-economic trends in Hungary, the major characteristics of the environment, as well as key international data through 637 tables. Compared to the previous year, we extended the yearbook with further interesting data: we publish preliminary population and dwelling data from the information collected during the population census in October 2011, net and real earnings data adjusted by taking into account family tax benefit, the number of households with mortgages, the major results of the agricultural census in 2010, the health care price index and data on wages and salaries by health occupations.
Changes in major indicators are displayed in the charts at the beginning of the Yearbook. The main concepts and their explanations are arranged in a Glossary at the end of the volume. Each chapter is closed by Methodological notes and Index. On the CD-ROM, the paper-based yearbook in PDF format, the Glossary and all tables in Excel format are available.

This yearbook is to present the socio-economic processes of the country, the major characteristics of the environment as well as key international data through 625 tables. It involves areas surveyed by official statistics and makes chronological and spatial comparisons possible. Changes in major indicators are displayed by charts at the beginning of the yearbook, while changes in the age structure of the population are presented by interactive population pyramids on the CD-ROM. This year the statistical yearbook is published two months earlier than previously, taking into account the interests of users, in the spirit of strengthening the servicing character of the HCSO, by reorganising processing and labour processes. To publish data as soon as possible is going to be one of our main aims in the future too. The yearbook goes through a continuous renewal, adjusted to the needs of users, therefore we welcome your comments, which you can send to the editorial board.
