Essays in History, the annual journal sponsored by the Corcoran Department of History at the University of Virginia, is now in its fifth decade. In 1991, with the support of the Electronic Text Center at the University of Virginia Library, it became one of the first on-line academic journals and has appeared solely in an electronically published format since 1994. A peer-reviewed journal by the graduate students of the Corcoran Department of History, Essays in History seeks to publish articles based on primary sources in all fields of history by all scholars, from undergraduates to tenured professors. The Editorial Board is currently accepting submissions for Volume 43 (2001).
