BMW Group and Pirelli have worked together to unveil new 20-inch P Zero Winter 2 tires for the BMW 7 Series which focus on range capabilities, thanks to its “A class” European labelling for rolling resistance. This collaborative effort sets a new benchmark especially for all-electric vehicle tires, offering driv
General Motors is recalling certain 2024 Chevrolet Colorado vehicles. Incorrect tires may have been installed that do not match the tire label, and the tire pressure monitoring system may provide inaccurate information for the installed tires. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard numbers 110, “Tire Selection and Rims,” and 138, “Tire Pressure Monitoring Systems.” A tire label that does not accurately reflect the installed tires may result in the installation of incorrectly sized tires. In addition, the TPMS may not warn the driver of a drop in tire pressure. Both of these scenarios can increase the risk of a crash.

Improved quality compounds using optimized grades of compounded butyl rubber, conductive carbon blacks and resin vulcanization systems have contributed to incremental improvements in tire curing bladder performance, allowing optimization of bladder gauge and dimensions to facilitate rapid heat flow into the curing tire.
The integration of artificial intelligence (AI) into various industrial sectors has spurred remarkable progress in the field of manufacturing process development. This concept has been extended to polymer compound formulations, where AI techniques have been used to optimize rubber formulations as well. Furthermore, it is conceivable that mixtures of other polymers, such as TPEs, thermoplastic materials or polyurethane compounds, could be similarly treated. Advantages of employing AI driven tools include reduced development time, enhanced efficiency and increased accuracy.
Researchers at the University of Michigan have developed a catalyst material known as cobalt phthalocyanine that converts carbon dioxide—a significant driver of climate change—into renewable fuels such as methanol.
Published in the journal ACS Catalysis, U-M researchers studied using cobalt phthalocyanine as a catalyst to convert carbon dioxide into methanol through multiple reaction steps. The first step converts carbon dioxide (C02) into carbon monoxide (CO) and the second step converts the CO into methanol.
